The Mandala of Life: Development from the Inside Out"

At the heart of every mandala lies a point, a beginning. This point is like the seed of a flower, deeply rooted in the earth, invisible yet full of potential.

Often, when we start a project, embark on a journey, or enter a new phase of life, we don’t yet know what the final outcome will be. Just like with a mandala, we don’t need to see the whole picture immediately – we just need to take the first step.

The Beginning: Trusting the Unknown

A mandala begins with a simple stroke, a circle, a line. From this first inner seed, we slowly move layer by layer outward. We use shapes, colors, and symbols—sometimes balanced and harmonious, sometimes irregular and uneven.

It’s like planting a seed in the ground. We don’t know how the plant will look later, what colors its flowers will bear, or how tall it will grow.

Life is similar. We have an idea, a wish, a dream within us. But we don’t yet know what form this dream will truly take. We simply begin. And we trust. With every step we take, the picture unfolds a bit more. The lines and patterns of our mandala take shape, connect, intersect, and expand. A picture emerges that we could never have imagined at the start.

The Art of Letting Go: Fully Present and Complete in Every Moment

A mandala is never complete. Even when we think we’ve added the final detail, there’s always room for expansion, for change. This reminds us that our life, too, is a living system full of transformation and growth. A life that holds new possibilities every day—opportunities to learn new things, forge new relationships, and broaden our horizons. In this way, we can continue to shape the mandala endlessly.

We are are allowed to let go of the thought that we need to reach goals in order to arrive or become complete. For even when we’ve reached a goal and completed the next layer of the mandala, new possibilities lie ahead.

The goal is to walk the path and shape and create our life—just like the mandala. To be mindful and present in every moment. To explore new paths, draw new lines. To venture into ways that have yet to be discovered. To take detours, pause, and reflect. To turn around and choose a different direction. Always new, in every moment.

We are allowed to learn that we are already whole and complete as we are, and let go of the idea of a perfect version of ourselves. The beauty lies in every version of us, and it is the journey that shapes us, not the destination.

The Mandala as a Companion

Creating a mandala is a journey that teaches us to trust the flow of life. It shows us that we don’t need to know the entire path from the beginning. We can take our time, move forward step by step, and allow the picture to unfold gradually. And like the mandala itself, our life can also be infinite—full of possibilities, full of growth, full of beauty.

The mandala of life reminds us that the beginning is often humble, yet it carries within it the potential for infinite development. It invites us to let go, embrace the unknown, and trust that the picture we create will reveal itself more with each step.

I would like to invite you to be brave and take the first step without knowing exactly what the goal and end result is. Free yourself from the idea of having to achieve goals in order to arrive or become perfect. Take the symbol of the mandala with you as a companion. As a symbol of a journey that teaches us to trust the flow of life and take one step at a time. It is your path. Your own path that you explore and follow for yourself. Be brave, trust the unknown and let it flow.

What is your first step? Take a piece of blank paper and put the first line.
",
